An IP to organization lookup identifies the organization name associated with a public IPv4 or IPv6 address in an Autonomous System record. The result can name an internet carrier, cloud provider, hosting company, university, government network, content platform, or business that manages internet routing.
The organization is routing context. It is not necessarily the retail ISP that sold the connection, the legal owner of every address, the website owner, or the person using the address. Several organizations can be involved in allocation, transit, hosting, and customer service.

These names can match, but they do not have to. A lookup for a business website may return its cloud host or content delivery provider. A residential address may return a parent carrier rather than the local service brand.
Accuracy and Important Limitations
This product includes GeoLite Data created by MaxMind, available from MaxMind. The stored ASN data is updated periodically. Transfers, routing changes, mergers, and renamed organizations can appear after a delay.
The result is not a live BGP table, legal ownership record, WHOIS record, company profile, or threat rating. It does not reveal a subscriber's name, exact address, account, or identity. It also does not prove that an address is a VPN, proxy, bot, host, or malicious source.
